Google launching new mobile-friendly algorithm
"Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results." - Google Webaster Central Blog
The new mobile ranking algorithm will go live April 21st
With mobile search engine traffic steadily climbing, it was only a matter of time before Google added a mobile feature to their search engine algorithm. Google is always updating their algorithm to ensure that users are finding the best pages, and the time has come to make serious considerations for the growing mobile market.
Bigger than "Panda" and "Penguin" Combined
Google estimates that 40 percent of all searches will be affected from this latest edition. The previous two upgrades affected roughly 20 percent of searches.
Google will be tagging sites as mobile-friendly or not.
There won’t be any degrees of mobile-friendliness, it’s all pass or fail with no partial credit. Tags will indicate if your website is not viewable on their device, thus directing users away from your site while sites that are mobile friendly will rank higher when someone is searching from a mobile device.
